Could it Be? A World Class Airport Hotel?

Most travellers know better than to stay at an airport hotel unless they have literally no other choice, however, thanks to the new TWA Hotel at the JFK Airport outside of New York City, that old mindset may be about to change. Deferring to the iconic TWA Flight Center which was built by renowned mid-century modern architect Eero Saarinen in 1962, the TWA Hotel will be a world class place for travellers from all over the world to stay in between flights, or just while they are visiting The Big Apple in general.’

There will be 505 guestrooms, a 10,000 square foot public observation deck to watch the comings and goings at the airport, eight food and beverage outlets including restaurants and bars and 50,000 square feet of conference room meeting space. On top of all of that, the old style and look that Saarinen coined in his original TWA Flight Center will be brought back to life and modernised slightly, allowing the hotel itself to be open to the public, with hopes of returning the entire structure to it’s original glory after TWA stopped operating in 2001.

Finally, going to the airport may be an exciting and unique experience again, like it was when the Jet Age first began in the mid-20th Century.
